Celebrating Inclusion: A Powerful Multiplier Event in Aveiro, Portugal for Autism Includi
On November 29, 2024, the José Estêvão Secondary School in Aveiro, Portugal, opened its doors to a vibrant and inclusive community for the Multiplier Event entitled “À Volta das Nossas Diferenças: UltraPassando Barreiras…” (“Around Our Differences: Overcoming Barriers…”). This event, held as part of the Autism Includi Erasmus+ project, brought together educators, caregivers, parents, students, local authorities, and individuals with disabilities to reflect on the importance of diversity, inclusion, and the role of digital education in supporting learners on the autism spectrum.
The event included a rich agenda with keynote speakers such as Glória Leite and Fernando Delgado, as well as testimonials from people with autism and other neurodevelopmental or physical conditions. Sessions ranged from roundtable discussions on inclusion in sports and education, to impactful presentations on the outcomes of the Autism Includi project, including its platform and educational resources.
With over 89 participants, mostly educators and civil society actors from across Portugal, the event received overwhelmingly positive evaluations. The audience particularly valued the opportunity to hear real stories and engage in open discussions. Τhe event was recognized as an important moment of connection, empathy, and shared vision for a more inclusive educational environment.
This inspiring gathering underscored the project’s role in bridging gaps and empowering communities, reaffirming Autism Includi’s mission to be a practical tool for both educators and families working together to support autistic students.
